Discussion Board Posts

This is the space where you will each post your ten 300-500 word weekly (more or less) posts focused on the week’s film and/or readings.

To write your post, click on +New at the top of the page and choose New Post. If you do not see +New at the top of the page, it is because either you are not logged into the Commons or you are not yet an author on our course page. I have added you all as authors using your CUNY email addresses, so you simply need to accept the invitation in your email.

Once you are in the Add New Post page, you’ll see a title blank and a large content blank. I recommend that at least for your first few posts, you pre-write in a document you can save elsewhere and then copy and paste into the Commons page (just in case something happens with the website or your internet – you won’t lose your work). As you are writing, you may “Save Draft” or “Preview” using buttons in the right hand column. When you’re done with your post and are happy with it, remember to hit “Publish” also in the right hand column.

The content of your post should focus on any two of the readings or film(s) for that week’s class meeting, and you should complete your post *before* our meeting time on Mondays (but feel free to post well earlier than that). I also recommend that you revisit the discussion page before class to see what others have posted before we meet. Feel free to post short constructive comments, complications, or follow up questions there as well. If you would like you may also compose your own post entirely as a response to someone else’s post for the week, but you must still follow the requirement of addressing two of the week’s readings or viewings.

That’s it! As a length reference: this post is now 343 words – so it falls within the requirement and has space to grow. Please try to stay within the 300-500 word requirement. This gives you time to develop some ideas in a length that the rest of the class can take in quickly. (now the total is 389 words)
